Some singles say it loud and clear : they are not ready to date for now. Good for them! But others are trying to find a partner without success. Why? Perhaps they are not ready as well and they haven’t realized it.

If there is one phrase that a single Christian hears often, it is : “God is preparing someone special for you.” We hear it so often that we can become irritated by it. This encouragement seems spiritual, but is it biblical?

God has called us to be a holy people, a people set apart. Several passages in the Bible compare salvation to a new birth, a new life. What does that mean in regards to our time of being single or dating?

You gave your life to Jesus a few years ago, and you are confident in your faith now. What’s the next step? Getting married to a good Christian partner? No. Your lifetime goal has nothing to do with your social status.

Facts
According to several studies and surveys, only 10% of Christian singles find their life partner in their local church. The Christian singles that cannot find their soul mate in their local church often fall in love with non-Christians, or they leave their church when their desire to marry is greater than their desire to serve God. Other singles turn to dating websites but are embarrassed, so they hide, which leads them into a dangerous state of isolation.
