We pray for our dreams to come true. We work hard to succeed in our projects. So we are rather disappointed, even demolished, when the result is not what we expected. However, failure can also be beneficial.

Then here are some questions to discuss: This is the first of the 10 commandments. Read Exodus 20:3. Why do you think God put this commandment above all others? Since we no longer live under law, but under grace, do these commandments, and this one in particular, still apply to us today? Explain your opinion. This command was given in a context where the people were worshipping statuettes.

“Is that what a Christian is?” Some unbelievers sometimes doubt when looking at the lives of those who claim to be born again. To truly be Christ-like, we have no other options: we must be filled with the Holy Spirit.

What topics does your pastor sometimes discuss that you find more difficult and why? Read Matthew 16:24. The message of salvation presented in our churches is often very “positive”, we talk a lot about the love of God for us, manifested by Jesus on the cross. But we speak less often of the suffering and the difficulties that we will encounter once converted.

Then here are some questions to discuss: When we are looking for a job, we must give employers the opportunity to find us by sending our resumes! Praying is not enough. In the same way, when we ask God for something, we must listen to his answer! How does God respond to you when you talk to him? What does your daily talk time look like, with God? God can speak to us through our Sunday assembly, through some teaching.
