You are not of this world, don’t forget it!

Stop whatever you are doing. Forget land claims for a moment, put aside concerns. Now, take the time to remind yourself that you are not of this world! That life on Earth is very temporary and doesn’t deserve to be plagued by stress.

The enemy doesn’t need to send us a legion of demons to torment us or make us miserable. One of his best tactics: distract us from the invisible to the visible. We live in the world, a society that suggests that being single is odd and something to “fix”. We should all work hard to buy a nice car and a house, and accumulate enough savings to spend our retirement on a beach.

All those are the concerns of the world. We, Christians, must remember that our lives go far beyond this world; we will spend most of our lives in heaven, praising our Lord. If we are on Earth for a tiny part of our life, it’s for a very special mission. If we let ourselves be overwhelmed by life here on Earth, we will forget our mission, our true nature, and we will be under the domination of concern and never ending greed.

Mark 4.19 (NIV) says : “but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.”

Singles, if we look at our social status, if we compare ourselves to the images of this world, we will be miserable. But if we look to our mission, our nature and to Christ; looking to the invisible, our social status won’t mean anything, and at the same time, our torments will leave.

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4.18 NIV)

Your life is far greater than anything that can happen here on Earth. Your destiny is not to get married, to have children, have a good job, a house, and so on and so on. Your destiny is greater because it exceeds the boundaries of the world and its standards. You don’t have to conform to the bidding of the world, you aren’t even subject to natural laws. God can work in you and through you supernaturally.

Don’t let the enemy you cut at your wings. You are a different race, not of this world; don’t let the cares of this world take away your identity.

“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”(John 15:19 NIV)

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12.2 NIV)
